Sgorio was first broadcast on Monday 5 September 1988. The featured game that weekend was the Barcelona derby as city giants, Barça, took on Espanyol.
This too was Johan Cruyff's first match as manager of Barcelona and 120,000 people crammed in to the Nou Camp to watch the Blaugrana beat their neighbours 2-0.
Football fans in Wales were delighted, and as ITV had decided not to show anyy English League highlights until November, Sgorio was, for a time, the only programme in Britain broadcasting football highlights.
Sgorio's first game from Serie A was AC Milan against Fiorentina Roberto Donadoni scoring the only goal of the game.
Sgorio was a pioneering programme with some of the biggest names in football, such as Ian Rush, admitting to being a regular viewer.
Arthur Emyr was the first presenter but in 1995 a new presenter took the reins.
Amanda Protheroe-Thomas was the first female presenter of any sports programme in Britain. She was succeeded by Morgan Jones and Sgorio continues to be innovative with Nic Parry joining Morgan to talk football with an array of footballing guests.
As well as the opinion of his guests, Nic encourages the viewers to join in the discussion and have their say on the week's footballing topics.
And with the introduction of Welsh Premiership highlights on Sgorio in 2007/08, the programmes footballing portfolio continues to grow.
